Participating in research studies has several advantages:  receiving free expert care, often at the cutting edge (and sometimes being reimbursed for doing so); receiving free testing (particularly an advantage for some of the more expensive tests such as sleep testing); receiving treatments early that will likely not be available until much later commercially.  Participants will receive information in detail about the pros and cons of each treatment well before participation.
